I'm kinda proud of myself here...

I drew this, and then semi-ruined it in paint. I liked original's expression just a tad better.

Because I Can

And also because my mother keeps commenting on how I haven't blogged in four months. Why? There has been no significant change in my life that y'all (what five of you read this) don't know about and haven't heard on MP or FB. So nyeah. It's a post.

Gaaaaah....

This semester is totally piled up! And it's all music. Before I started college, I didn't know that it was actually possible to be involved in nothing but music, but tada!

I've got Collage this weekend with both Chanters and Wind Ensemble, then there's all the vocal stuff I have to do, I've got tours with Chanters and W.E....

I think I might actually be earning my Spring Break for once.

Jewelry

Dang. I suck at blogging. The truth is, I actually forgot I had one.... Hmm...

Anyways, for those of you that know, (and there shouldn't be that many because I don't talk about this much online) I dabble in jewelry making. I don't do it a ton, and I don't make anything to sell. Usually, if I'm not making something as a gift for someone, I'm making something that I need to go with a particular outfit. (Or more than one... My graduation set of clothes was almost color-coordinated.)

So, I finally got a necklace form (thanks, Mom!) and can now display some of what I make. This post is going to have a ton of eye-candy! Yay!

Ordinarily, crafters (scrapbookers, at least) tell the brand of what they're using and such, but I don't actually pay attention that much. And half of the stuff I get is from antique shops or garage sales, so yep... I don't know. My advice is go hunting at Michael's, Hobby Lobby, antique places, flea markets, actual beading and jewelry stores... Whatever floats your boat. (Did I just say that?????)

Now for the real stuff:

This is a multi-chain necklace that hits about mid-chest. Some of the chains are off of old pendants that my great-grandmother had given me, and some of them (the newer ones) are off of a spool of chain that I have.

This is a funky pendant that I made to go with bohemian-type outfit. It hits about stomache level. I think I got everything on this from Friendzies. (sp?)

These necklaces are twins! Yay! I've been wanting a ribbon-cameo necklace for quite some time, and it turns out, Michael's had the ribbon already with fastenings (the clasps and such)! I didn't find a true cameo that seemed to fit, so I chose these two charms. I think they worked out quite well.

This is a choker that is made of toilet chain. I had to use some for a project, and found that I had enough to make a choker. Somehow, I got away with wearing this at school, and I've no idea how that happened.

This is just a simple fairy pendant that I made a few years ago.

Because zippers are awesome. Need I say more?

This one's a twofer. I found the brooch at the Aldersgate Rummage Sale, and thought it looked pretty neat. So, I went and doubled a couple of black-silver chains and clipped the brooch on. However, I realized that it made a neat necklace without the brooch as well. And you can't see it, but on the back of the necklace, I used a different, larger chain.

This is the necklace that I made for graduation. The centerpiece is a costume earring that my grandmother had owned.

Sadly, I did not make this. I really wish I had, but alas! I cannot metalcraft. It is, however, one of my favorite pieces, so I decided to take a picture of it.

This last one is just basically a rock on a cord. That's all there is to it.

And now you've seen all the ones I have up here with me! Yay! See, I can be creative when I want to.

Now... If I could just finish my fanfiction.....

The ???? Marching Band Presents Their Productions of "Doctor Who"

Mayhaps I should rethink the marching band thing. Or at least set up a side practice as a show designer. I just got the killer idea of a Doctor Who show. I mean, the theme song's practically built for it! Even the one at the end has some variance to the first! Use the theme, then add a song from Chameleon Circuit or something that is Doctor Who related (Maybe write a theme for Rose or one of the other companions?) and finish with the credit version of the theme! Have your drummajors in trench coats and your flags in blue, with maybe some of them carrying around blue tinted flashlights..... Start out in formation as the TARDIS... Man I'm good! I send it in to Mr. Pham if I thought that he'd know what Doctor Who was!!!!!

EDIT:
I got the perfect middle song! THE SONG OF THE OOD! With a french horn doing the part of the woman's voice that does the melody! Ach, this is PERFECT!

Chivalry vs. Sexism

This is partially an observation and partially a rant.

There is a fella here who comes from East East Texas. (Basically, it's the South with a bit more twang in the accent.) This means he was raised in the good ole Suthun fashion. He will not allow a woman to hold a door open for him, and if he sees a gal headed for a door, he runs to open it. Ect.

I commented on this to a friend of mine, and her response was, "That is so sexist!"

That's when it occured to me. Chivalry is not dead. It is merely mistaken for sexism! So, as a girl, allow me to clarify.

Sexism looks down upon women as the weaker sex, viewing them as objects and silly. Men who behave like this aren't worth all the time in the world and should be avoided. Basically, this is when a guy says or does something that means, "You poor thing. Why don't you let me, a member of the superior sex, handle this?"

Chivalry, on the other hand, is when a man treats a woman like a lady. He shows respect and stands when she enters a room (Or something similar.) He holds doors open for her, tips his hat. In other words, chivalry treats a woman like the fairer sex, like a priceless treasure.

Unfortunately, men like this are getting harder to find. Which is sad, because I enjoy being treated like a lady. It makes me feel special, as though I'm someone of worth.

Hero

Sorry about the long wait. I actually forgot I had a blog. Heh heh...

Anyways, I've been doing some thinking. A really bad thing just happened to my brother. It was one of those it-was-a-mistake-and-yes-it's-unfair-but-there's-not-much-anyone-can-do things.

If this had happened to me, I'd've been raging and screaming. I'd be out for blood. Archie? He's being, well... He's being a man about it. He's upset, yes, but he's taking it in stride. He said that he understood where everyone was coming from and such.

And y'know... I really admire him for it. Not only has he brought certain rules to light in his school, but he's even managed to gain some respect from his peers from it.

And the weird part is, I almost knew something was gonna happen. The night before all of this exploded, I was pretty restless and worried, so as I was going to sleep, I said, "Well, come what may, Lord, and may it be for your Work."

And so it is. Good came out of bad, to use a cliche.

And the best part is that my brother's a hero to me. If it weren't for this, I wouldn't have seen what sort of man my little brother is becoming.

And I'm proud of him. Love you, Archie!!!

I'm Screwed Beyond Words

So, as you have probably guessed from my facebook posts, I'm not doing so well in Algebra.

As a matter of fact, the chance of me failing (which will mean severe loss in scholarship) is very, very high. Why is this? BECAUSE I'VE NEVER SEEN THIS STUFF BEFORE!!!!!

The book, and my teacher, expects everyone to already have learned basic algebra. Well guess what! I haven't! Tada!!!!

So, I can't afford a tutor, and I can't do this on my own because I have no clue what's going on. Even if I pass all of the worksheets (which is becoming harder as we go along), I still don't know HOW to do everything, so I'm going to fail.

I'd drop the class, but even then the result is the same. Just without all of the fuss.

The part that kills me is that my previous advisor didn't even give me a choice. I didn't know that I could take other maths. So, I could be taking statistics or practical math and be passing, but instead I'm trapped in this hell-hole.

And I feel like it's my fault.

This just sucks. It just really, really sucks.

Costume

So, every year, I wonder and fret about what I'll dress up like for Halloween. (Gimme a break! I love dress-up!) The main problems stem from what is sold and how expensive it is. I mean, the least revealing are the most expensive. (More cloth, I imagine.)

My daddy actually gave me an idea! I have a simple black formal gown and several black heels, as well as a pearl necklace. What if I were to purchase a mardi gra mask and elbow length black gloves?

Score! This could work! I even have the option of purchasing a parisol. (Probably not gonna happen. I can dream though....)

Sorry folks

The 365 thing is pretty much shot, huh?

I'm sorry I haven't been posting as much. School is pretty busy, in fact, I have math I'm about to do. :( We've hit factoring. :'(

Anyone want to take my place?

This is a PROMISE

I have gained weight. I'm not going to flip out or go "Oh no! I've gained 11 pounds! I'm fat!" Mainly because I've been slightly underweight for the past few years.

So, in all, I'm not unduly worried. However, I do have a tummy-pooch that is very irritating. It makes me feel like I'm fat, even though I know I'm not. So, I aim to do something about it.

The main point of this late night post is that I am out of shape. My metabolism has finally slowed down, which means that the zero-exercising I've done in the past year has caught up with me. I have watched many of my friends and family struggle with both ends of the weight spectrum, and I know how hard it is. I don't want to be there. Ever.

I refuse to be obsessed with my weight, but I want to look nice in a swimsuit. So, I'm gonna start running again. Even though it means waking up early. I want to be in shape.

I need everyone who's reading this to keep me accountable. I am a very lazy person, and I know that unless pushed, I'm likely to quit before I even start.

Also, if anyone has any ideas for quick and relatively painless exercises that will flatten my stomache, I'll be forever gratefule if you could tell me.

What do you do?

What do you do when someone walks up to you and says that they're an ex-Christian who has decided to "explore"?

A gal I met here asked whether or not I was going to the Gay/Straight Alliance. I told her no, because it was against my religious beliefs. Her response was, "Your religion?" So I told her that I was a Christian, and that I firmly believe that the Bible calls homosexuality a sin.

She said, "That's cool. I come from a Christian family, and I used to be one. I came here and met some new people, so I've decided to keep my beliefs in my heart and look around and see if I find something that fits."

That's just it though, nothing fits with Jesus Christ. He is All there is, and nothin' can ever sit alongside Him.

I just really didn't have anything to say to that, I mean, I've met a Satanist and a couple of psycos before, but that was mainly just show. (On the Satanist's part, I mean. Not so sure on the psycos'.) Plus I had just met this gal.

I tried to remind her that her beliefs included Jesus and that she needed to keep Him in her heart. She said yeah and brushed me off.

I wish someone had told me stuff like this was gonna happen. I might've been prepared for it, then.

Wish I Had a USB for my Phone

'Cause I took a pic with it. (I didn't have my camera)

So, here's a picture of a kitty!

Pic Dos

This is a plant that is growing EVERYWHERE at the Farm. We think it's some kind of thistle, but we're not sure. Whatever it is, it's pretty.

Coffee

It's just creepy. Plain ol' creepy.

Why?

In the coffee shop we've got on campus, there's ads for the newest drinks.

They sound like Vern Yip and various other designers on HGTV. "And finishes with an essence of grape!"

Why? Why do people take their coffee so seriously?? It's just a caffinated beverage! You can accomplish the same thing with tea or Coke!!!!

Again I have decided

to do the 365 picture blog. Why? 'Cause Marla dared me.

So, my first post:

This picture was a total accident. I was trying to take a picture of Old Main (the Admin building) looking down the rows of flowers. The pine needles and grass got in the way. It turned out really cool, though.

Next one will be up tomorrow.

I Have Decided

... that life sucks. I mean, it really really sucks. And it's just gonna suck until I die.

So that means there's nothing I can do 'cept be happy in spite of it.

And descend into the depths of developing the personality akin to that of a holiday feel-good special.

Huzzah.

Just One of Those Weeks

Okay, I am having to work to get to Saturday. Monday and Tuesday were just draining, Wednesday started to look up, but not much. Yesterday was pretty okay...

But today? Today just takes the cake. It sucks. Beyond sucks! I want to curl up and and cry and it's barely 10:00!!

Why? Because when I went to the campus store to get some pop tarts for breakfast and some laptop decals, my stupid card was declined. DECLINED. All because I am an idiot and didn't write down my balance. Now I am kicking myself, and I'm out of money. I'm just gonna go ahead and say it. Damn. Just damn.

I Can't Believe I'm Saying This....

But... I think I'm starting to hate band. I look towards it with dread, and I breathe a sigh of relief when it's over. I mean, I love the music, I love the show, I love the directors. The problem is... I'm having issues with the marching. I'm doing the best I can considering how fast we're going, but according to my section leaders, I'm apparently the only one screwing up.

I know I suck, but if you're gonna correct me, can you at least do it politely? Y'know, instead of yelling at me or talking down to me like I can't understand a word you're saying?

I know that they're just trying to help, but part of the problem is that I find it very hard to respect them. Not only are they making big mistakes themselves, but they act way younger. They cuss and treat each other like dirt. They say that they're just joking, but....

*sigh* I'll be glad when marching season is over and we focus on the music.
